Welcome to ACLD

ACLD’s mission is to help children and adults with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and related disorders to succeed in school and employment. We also seek to promote increased awareness and a better understanding of Specific Learning Disabilities and related disorders in the Greater Pittsburgh community.

ACLD, Inc. (An Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities, Greater Pittsburgh Region) was created in 1966 by a group of parents, professionals, and other community leaders. We are a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer, independent board of directors and are incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

ACLD, Inc. provides high quality programs and a variety of services for children, adolescents, and adults with Specific Learning Disabilities and their families who live in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. ACLD is an excellent source for information on SLD (also known as Learning Disabilities or LD), diagnosis, research-based interventions, services in the community, and legal rights.

ACLD's programs and services are as follows:

  • The ACLD Tillotson School - a special education day school
  • ACLD Learning Centers - summer learning programs for children
  • ACLD Child & Parent Services - help for children and parents
  • ACLD Adult Services - help for adults with SLD
