ACLD conducts two separate and distinct high-quality summer instructional programs: The ACLD Learning Center Program was created in 1968, and The ACLD Extended School Year (ESY) Program began in 1998. These two programs differ in regard to students served, class size, ratio of teaching staff to students, instructional content, and cost.
Both programs provide children between the ages of 7 and 13+ a unique opportunity to improve their academic, study, and social skills. Students are taught by knowledgeable certified teachers. Each child’s academic program is individually tailored, and instruction is based upon proven techniques and methods.
The ACLD Learning Center Summer Program is designed for children who would benefit from a specialized summer program to improve and/or increase their skills in reading, writing, math, studying, and related areas or for students whose academic achievement is somewhat below their expected level. For a Registration Packet containing information on the program, tuition costs, scholarships and a registration form.
The ACLD Extended School Year (ESY) Learning Center Summer Program is designed to provide more intensive academic instruction to students who are in special education programs and have not made “adequate yearly progress” during the school year and/or will lose basic skills as a result of the long summer break. This program provides students with specialized instruction in the areas identified in the student’s individualized education program (IEP).
