There are federal and state laws that prohibit employers (private, sate and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions) from discriminating against individuals with qualified disabilities. Discrimination covers the following areas: hiring, firing, advancement, compensation, job training and other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment. These rights are outlined in the following two federal laws: the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
